Day 1 - 31st March 2019 Trekking Costa Alentejana Next day, april 1st, the four partners countries left the school at 7.45 am and went on a field activity, balancing trekking activities and Geological and Biological features of a part of Alentejo region cost line. This field activity was co-organised with the collaboration of Centro de Ciência Viva de Estremoz, which assigned two geologists to guide the project entourage. The students were organised in different international groups for the meeting. Hence, durign the field visit these groups were put in two major groups. The visit would comprehend two different places: Almograve and Sines Cape. Both places are located in the Portuguese Southwest Coast, one of the few remaining well preserved coastlines in southern Europe with diverse geological and biological natural heritage, hosting a high diversity of habitats and unique species worldwide, making it of great importance in terms of conservation. It corresponds to the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. Morning Almograve Trekking Activity - Almograve Geology features Afternoon After lunch at Porto Covo village, next to the ocean, the two major groups headed to the Sines Cape and North Beach area, for the second activity. Sines Cape Trekking Activity - Sines Cape Geology Day 2 - 1st April 2019 On april 1st, at 8.15 am the foreign partners were welcome at Escola D. Manuel I (Agrupamento de Escolas 2 de Beja) by the Vice-Principal. This brief oficial cerimony was followed by a guided visit to the school facilities. Participants attend to classes The foreign sutdents had the opportunity to attend predesignated classes. For that reason, exeptionally the students from Italy, France and Spain were organised in small international groups while the Portuguese students attended their normal classes. Teachers' meeting At the same time, the teachers met in a meeting room where they addressed different subjects concerning the meeting. Peddy Paper and Photo Competition In the afternoon, after lunch at school, the different international groups had the opportunity to discover the city of Beja through a Peddy Paper Activity. For the activity, each group was given an orientation sheet with tasks, questions and challenges The start and end of each group was registered. The participants followed clues and tracks that allowed them to observe important features of Beja. The groups had to end at the Town Hall square. During the Peddy Paper the students were invited to participate in a photo competition. For the Peddy Paper activity students had to take in account time, speed, orientation, drawing and communication. At the end, all sheets were collected and, time and answers were taken in account to determinate the winners. The Peddy Paper winning group (Group 1) and the Photo Competion winners received a prize during the farewell dinner in the last day's evening. Peddy-paper Beja route recorded with Strava by Bea Vericat (pupil from La Sénia) https://www.strava.com/activities/2257397137 Reception at the Town Hall After the Paddy Paper activity the partners were welcomed by Beja's Mayor (Dr. Paulo Arsénio) and the Education Councellor (Dr. Arlindo Morais) at the Town Hall (Municipality). Next, all the participants visited the Beja's Castle. Day 3 - 2nd April 2019 Visit to University and High Competition Center During the third day of the meeting all the partners visited Lisbon. There they were divided in two major groups. The first major group visited the Motricity Faculty of Lisbon University and the second major group visited the High Competition Center of Jamor (Centro Nacional Desportivo do Jamor). Motricity Faculty of Lisbon The partners had the opportunity to visit the faculty facilities, some of its labs and research rooms as well being elucidated about the variarty of courses and how they develop and highlight the science behind every sport activity. High Competition Center of Jamor Besides geting to know the sport history in Portugal, the participants had the opportunity to discover some of the several places as well as technical equipment where high-competition athletes train, like the Jamor Swimming Pool Complex and High Competion Center of Jamor. Finally they had the privilege to be on the Portuguese National Stadium. At the end, all the partners had the opportunity to visit Lisbon old Downtown (Baixa). Day 4 - 3rd April 2019 The forth day was full of activities. Lab Activities In the morning, at 8.30, the different international groups were taken to the school labs where they were involved in experiments concerning Transparent Heart - Accelerate and Decelerate, observing the influence of several toxic substances on heart batiment in living organisms (Daphnia). Teachers' meeting During the lab activities, the teachers met on the meeting room where they discussed subjetcs concerning Beja's meeting, the Mobility Tool, and preparing the next meetings. Alqueva Dam, sport activities In the afternoon the participants left 14.00/14.30 to Alqueva Dam, next to one of the largest hidroelectric complexes in Portugal where they were involved in several sport and recreation activities, after a class where students were taught about the science behind these activities. Alqueva Dark Sky activity After dinner at a local restaurant, all parterns were taken to Cumeada, headquarters of Dark Sky Alqueva and where the Official Observatory of Dark Sky Alqueva is located. There, students and teachers had the opportunity to observe the wonderful and pristine Alentejo's sky, under the guidance of two enthusiastic cientists, namely astronomer Nuno Pereira Santos. Recently Dark Sky Alqueva received several international awards. Indoors the participants had the opportunity to visit an amazing photo exhibition, a collection of the international astrophotographer Miguel Claro. Day 5 - 4th April 2019 Meeting Presentations During the morning, students worked in their international groups preparing their presentations in the school's library. Next, the students and teachers went to the school's auditorium (Sala D. Manuel I) where the presentations took place. Each group was responsible for presenting a specific activity and one of them would summarize all. The groups are presented by chronological order. Farewell Dinner At 19.30 the school hosted the Farewell Dinner, where guest and host students and teachers as well as most of the host families were present.
